Good morning.
Energy prices have been rising, even though seasonally they should be cooling down. Two pieces of news could help lower prices at last.
First is the possibility of warmer winter weather, at least in North America. La Nina conditions could lead to higher-than-average winter temperatures across most of the US, although the Pacific Northwest may face cooler weather.
Second, is the fact that prices in general could cool for awhile thanks to the Federal Reserve’s renewed commitment to tapering its asset purchases. While we’re still a long way from higher interest rates, less direct monetary stimulus to the economy could slow down those rising gas and heating bills this winter. The bad news? That may also slow down the stock market too.
