Getting Older EverydayGood morning.
Looking over the second quarter of 2021, analysts at Goldman Sachs (GS) noted that investors who simply bought the FANG stocks – standing for the biggest of the big tech firms – would have performed well with fairly low volatility.
That’s no surprise.  These big firms have been dominating markets for a decade now, allowing tech to become the most powerful sector in the US markets.
They’re also firms at or near all-time highs today.  More importantly, thanks to their large market caps, the bigger they get, the bigger a part they become in passive investors’ portfolios.  So that trend is likely to continue, leading markets to new highs.

Now here’s the rest of the news:

We Need Better_2Good morning.
There truly is a disconnect that the market is rewarding typically cyclical companies in the middle of a recession as states amp up the COVID meter and are tightening their grip on their economies.
A great example is Amazon Inc (AMZN) and Tesla Inc (TSLA).  These company’s stock prices have gone parabolic as buyers panic bid the market for these companies.  Until today.  Is this the first day of the market waking up to reality or is it another moment of sanity that will quickly fade to cognitive dissonance?

Away from NEWS … think more to YOUR personal success:

“I’m unattached to results, and I am willing to correct and continue my way to success.”
(Say this 3 times today)

Have you ever wondered how the most successful people approach something new?
I this video, Jesse explains the VERY different approach a successful person has when trying something vs. someone who isn’t “there” just yet.

This tweak was a game-changer.  And if you can adopt it, you’ll rarely feel frustrated if things don’t go well.

The elements that set people apart

If you want to know what your values are at this moment, you can examine your recent past & notice the choices you made when you could have gone one way or another.  Your choices and your sub-sequent actions demonstrated to yourself & others what was of greatest value and importance to you.

Compare Different People.  Here is an example.  Imagine you have 2 people who have the same three values.  The values are family, health and career success.  The only difference between these two people is the order of importance that they placed on these values, their priorities.  The first person, Bill, says that, “My family comes first, my health is second and career success is third.”

Tom, on the other hand, has the same values, but he says, “Career success comes first for me, then my family, and then my health.”

Determine the Difference.  Would there be a difference in character and personality between these 2 people?  Would there be a small difference or a large difference?  Which of these two people would you like to get to know and become friends with?  Would you be able to tell these two people apart in conversation?  Which one do you think you would like and trust more?

Values Set People Apart.  The answers to these questions are clear.  The person with the higher values in a better order of priority will invariably be a better person than the person whose values are in a different order.  Your choice of values determines the quality of your character.  When you select values such as integrity, love, courage, honesty, excellence or responsibility, and you live your life consistent with those values, every hour of every day, you actually become a superior person.  It is your values that deter-mine the kind of person you really are.

Action Exercises.  Here are two things you can do immedi-ately to put these ideas into action.

First, think about how you behave, how you choose, when-ever you are under pressure.  Remember, it is only what you do, your actions, that tell who you really are.

Second, observe how other people around you behave when they are forced to choose.  You will only be compatible with people whose values are similar to yours.  What are they?

Good morning. Yesterday saw the latest Fed meeting.  As expected, the Fed had some nice things to say about how the economy was doing, and why all those rising prices and shrinking portion sizes at the grocery store were temporary.  But when it came to, say, pulling back on the billions of dollars per day of bond buying, the central bank once again punted on the issue, saying they were looking into it. This is a replay of its model from the last crisis.  Yes, the Fed will eventually scale back its bond buying, possibly even to zero.  And it

Good morning. Last week saw the stock market dive on rising Delta variants to Covid 19.  Yesterday saw a big drop, particularly for tech.  The reason?  A crackdown by China over a number of companies there. These drops are usually healthy, as they help curb speculation and keep traders on their toes, either by quickly turning profits into losses, or by creating new trading opportunities at a better value.  This summer’s market is starting to look like the summers in the mid-1990s when tech stocks would correct going into the autumn, only to end the year higher.  In the meantime,

Good morning. Trading is fun and exciting, and being able to leverage small short-term moves into big profits makes for a fun and profitable hobby, even with the occasional big loss to talk about.  But some of the best returns can come from taking a long-term position in a multi-year trend. In a special edition of Trading Tips today, we’ll be looking more in-depth at what’s set to be the biggest trend of the decade.  It’s potentially a $30 trillion market, far bigger than 5G, the Internet of Things, all the meme stocks combined, and even cryptocurrencies.  It’s changing the

Good morning. As much as Wall Street loves rumors, Washington DC is the major league.  The latest rumors are that Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell might not be nominated for a second term to lead the Fed.  While his tenure has been little different than his prior two predecessors given the crises he’s had to deal with, some progressives don’t think the Fed chair has done enough on income inequality and other matters. That could lead the White House to find a more radical leader for the central bank, potentially even one willing to embrace the latest economic theories such

Letting Go Of Guilt “Guilt can stop us from taking healthy care of ourselves.” –Melody Beattie Guilt is like a rock.  It sits in the pit of our stomachs and can weigh down our every thought, behavior, and action.  It can distract us all throughout the day and keep us awake at night.  Our muscles work overtime just to carry it around, and yet we still hold onto it. It’s imperative that we stop feeling so guilty. That’s not to say that you shouldn’t feel guilt.  True guilt is a loving instrument from Spiritual Guidance used to convict, correct, and confirm your

Good morning. Technology companies need to constantly innovate.  That results in a high amount of money being spent on research and development, which in turn helps keep a company’s taxes lower than a company that makes the same product year-in, year-out. So it’s no surprise that regulators are always on the lookout for ways to try and get more taxes out of these massive firms that often have little to no earnings.  One proposal is being floated for a new generation of technology: a space tax.  Or, more specifically, a per-passenger tax on space flights like the ones just completed
