Your OrderGood morning.
The stock market volatility in recent weeks has left the stock market still near all-time highs.  But with some large daily swings, and with tech stocks down much more on average, the sentiment is still somewhat bearish.
Overall, that points to a slowing of the longer-term market rally, not the end of it.  Some of the big speculation in tech in the first few weeks of the year has taken a pause.  That’s normal in a bull market.  As a result, investors and traders alike should look for short-term fears as a buying opportunity, particularly in fast-growing tech plays.

How have you shifted your trading strategy in today’s choppy markets?

Modern monetary theory says a government can print as much money as they want.  What about currency devaluation or, far worse, inflation?  Can financial wizards really conjure infinite dollars forever without dramatic consequences? [Read Here]

Es' Birthday CardToday … It’s my 69th Birthday!  … Yes! … “Too late to die young.”

As many well-wishers are texting messages, emailing, and speaking on the phone with me … I’d like to say a special thanks to Es who sent me this brother-in-law birthday card.

Dutch-Pancake-HouseWe did, have to unfortunately, postpone this years’ Pfanntastic Pannenkoek Haus get-together with friends and family due to the Coronavirus outbreak.  Everyone’s first priority is to keep healthy and safe!  Thanks everyone … we will get together soon!  XoXoXo

Our EXAMPLESHIP creates our legacy

Brian Carruthers wrote this article … and I couldn’t be more proud to share it with you and your family today!

I’m teaching Colton before he’s 2 about 10X Mindset.  This kid is OBSESSED so I doubt he’ll ever be average. #beobsessedorbeaverage #10x (Grant Cardone’s book The 10X Rule)

People question if I’m legit all the time.  They say “If you really made $20M+ then why are you still building and working??”

I tell them I’ve barely even started to scratch the surface of my potential.  And my mission is bigger than just me.  And I tell them that if I got lazy now and slowed down, I’d be teaching my little kids the wrong lessons of work ethicambition, and going for it in life.  I want them to find their passion and get attention on it.  Build their empires on it.  #buildinganempire

Money is only a part of the overall picture.  Net worth is just a measuring stick for how much value you’ve brought to the marketplace.  IMPACT IS EVERYTHING.  I want to make the world a better place.  I want to teach my kids to do the same.

Let’s all know and remember … our AMBITION sets the tone for those around us.  The greatest gift we can give our kids is not monetary inheritance.  It’s mindset  and attitude and ambition and work ethic.

If we are lazy, if we are not going for it with urgency each day CONSISTENTLY, not only do we not accomplish big goals and create big success for ourselves, but our playing small adversely affects everyone we care about.  Our EXAMPLESHIP creates our legacy … good or bad, big or small.  You can’t tell your kids they can accomplish anything they want in life while you’re playing small and not accomplishing much.  They will look at you as either a hypocrite or as someone just blowing hot air that they don’t even think you believe yourself.

Many parents think spending tons of time with their kids is most important.  I feel that a balance is crucial — your kids need to see you hustling and winning, and having SOME time when you can just chill with them.  But it is GOOD FOR THEM to miss you, and see that you are doing important things in life.  That teaches them ambition, purpose, and real life skills.  Yes, kids spell LOVE as T-I-M-E.   I totally agree.  They want you there a lot, but they NEED you to go be a winner example for them as well.  Again, it’s a balancing act.

So I choose the 10X mindset.  I am building empires with people, impacting lives all over the world, helping all those people become heroes and great examples for their kids.  My three boys will know their Dad as someone who had impact.  Yes, I made crazy amounts of money as well.  But it’s the impact they witnessed that will serve them well in their futures.

Go 10X your life.  Do it for you, do it for your family, do it to leave your mark.  😉

Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday … Happy Birthday … Happy Birthday to me!

Yes, today is my birthday anniversary.  I have lots to be grateful for … the off work today is one of them.  Chilled out for the day!  Pre-paid for my flight from Halifax, NS to Saint John’s, NF later this September.

Also booked my accommodations for Saint John’s, hoping to see the “Jelly Bean Row” houses, the Cape Spear Lighthouse, and the place where Marconi sent the first wireless trans-atlantic communication, Signal Hill.  Plan to a lot of Geocaching in and around St. John’s. [I’m excited…]

Shine Your Light on Others Real leadership, the kind of leadership that not only works but also has a lasting impact, is about building other people and shining your light on them, not on yourself.  Real leaders understand they are here to work for the team, and not the other way around. A mediocre leader tries to impress people with how important he or she is.  A great leader impresses upon people how important they are. People will be willing to do more and accomplish more when they feel recognized.  A little recognition goes a long way, but you have to

Good morning. Earnings season offers a big opportunity for markets to move in either direction.  With the market currently contending with the issues that come from rising interest rates, and the latest Covid variant (which Bill Gates say may be the last before Covid becomes more seasonal like the flu), this quarterly earnings report could be a make-or-break. While the data from the last quarter of 2021 are already in the rear-view mirror, early indications are that overall earnings for the S&P 500 are up 49 percent.  That’s hugely bullish, and some industries are likely to move higher no matter

01-JANUARY 13-2022

Good morning. Wednesday’s inflation reading of a 7 percent annual increase is the biggest move higher for inflation since 1982.  However, behind all headlines are some good and bad news.  Good news?  The rate of inflation growth is slowing, and that may be confirmed over the next few months. And, within the data that goes into inflation, some components are still continuing to rise, such as energy and gasoline prices.  But other factors, like meat prices, are starting to decline. This more nuanced picture shows that many inflation components are also tied in with shortages, and that the rate of

Good morning. The stock market continues to struggle to find its footing this year, as attempts to move higher seem to be thwarted by a number of news items such as rising Covid cases.  However, combined with a low death rate (something the news rarely talks about anymore), the latest variant may allow the pandemic to become endemic to those who haven’t yet moved on. In the meantime, a number of investors are getting bullish following the latest selloff.  Of particular note is the renewed interest in Bitcoin, where billionaire Bill Miller states that half his personal portfolio is now

01-JANUARY 11-2022

Good morning. At its lows yesterday, the Nasdaq hit correction territory, down 10 percent from its most recent high.  That comes as interest rates continue to creep higher.  With a week loaded with economic data, that’s no surprise. By the end of the week we should see the latest inflation data with a CPI release on Wednesday, as well as the PPI for producer data.  Retail sales will give a hint as to how the holidays performed compared to prior years, and a number of Federal Reserve members have speaking engagements which can move the markets this week. With the

Good morning. Going into Friday’s job reports, a full 86 percent of market participants queried believed that the Federal Reserve would hike interest rates in March.  Such a move, coming off of last week’s hawkish meeting minutes, would mean going from 0 percent interest rates to 0.25 percent. While not a huge move, it would be a sign that the economy is performing well and that the job market is getting close to normal.  While the latest jobs numbers had a big miss on Friday, enough jobs were created to drop the unemployment rate down to 3.9 percent.  Sure, the

More Newfoundland wonder! January 09, 2021 Getting A Job Is a Job A recruiter asked a job candidate, “Why did you leave your last job?” The job applicant replied, “It was something my boss said.” “What did he say?” “You’re fired.” This person definitely needs a copy of my new book – “Getting a Job is a Job” – which comes out Jan. 5.  In it, I focus on bouncing back after being fired, dealing with rejection and the emotions people feel.  And I explain why you can’t take it personally. The book is chock full of helpful hints on
