#1 Cause of “Morning Anxiety” (and how to fix it for good)

The number one reason you’re anxious and stressed in the morning … is because of something you DIDN’T do the day before.

It all comes back to your planning and preparation for the next day.  Let me explain.  If you’re making your to-do list in the morning…

You’re already way too late.  When you spend that first 10, 20, or 30 minutes thinking about what to do.  You’re wasting the most precious part of the day.

Plus, when you don’t have a plan you lack intention… and the day can easily start to slip away.  So what’s the fix?  Simple.

Rewind to the night before and do these 3 things…

Brain Dump1. Brain Dump

Get everything out of your head and down on paper.

Anything that’s weighing on you.

Anything you need or want to get done.

I guarantee you’ll feel instant relief.

2. Priority To-Do List

Go through everything you just wrote down and determine what actually needs to happen.  Eliminate whatever doesn’t require your attention (a hidden benefit is seeing much of what you’re stressing about doesn’t really matter).

Prioritize the items that require action and order them by importance for tomorrow.  You don’t want a dozen things on here if you can help it…

But at a minimum have your top 1, 2, 3 important tasks identified.   Keep it simple.

3. Process Planning

This is where the magic starts to happen…

Figure out small things you can do to make that #1 most important task go a little easier tomorrow.  Have an email or report to write?

Try jotting down bullets to some of the key points.  Project to work on in the AM?  You could have whatever documents or websites you’ll need already open and ready on your computer.  The point is to reduce friction and make transitioning to these tasks as quick and seamless as possible.

With these 3 steps in place…

You will master your mornings.

You’ll get rid of your anxiety.

And you’ll dominate in business and in life.

To Your Success,

I forgot to put a smiley faceGood morning.
We’re often reminded that the stock market isn’t the economy.  That’s true.  But the stock market does price in expectations about the economy.
Right now, it‘s working in some of the uncertainty from the coronavirus outbreak.  There will be more days ahead with big rallies and big drops.
These are the kinds of moves that make for great trading opportunities.  Stay cautious, but remember, no market selloff lasts forever.  😉

What’s the most impenetrable place on Earth?

Look at this building.  So innocent-looking, huh?  Perhaps it’s home to maybe a few office or something.

Nope.  Nothing could be further from the truth.

Have you ever heard the phrase “All the gold in Fort Knox”?  Well, this place, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York, has even more than Fort Knox; 250 billion dollars and 7000 tons of gold.

Little of the gold belongs to the U.S.  Most of it belongs to foreign central banks and several international organizations.

With these kinds of people stashing one of the world’s most valuable substances here, this place has got to have some features to make those organizations trust them. It does.

To start with, the building is protected by armed guards and it, along with the outside perimeter, is monitored at all times by security cameras.
If you get past that, you’ll have to sneak 78 feet, or 24 meters, down to the vault where all the gold is stored.  There is only one way in, a 3-meter steel cylinder that weighs 90 tons, surrounded by a 140-ton steel and concrete frame.  This cylinder is usually rotated 90 degrees, with four holes for steel rods that can’t be taken out until next regular business hours.
When closed, the cylinder becomes an air- and water-tight seal that is so good a person in there would suffocate in three days.

If you manage to pass that, you’ll find out the inside of the vault is monitored just like the building, except there are motion sensors as well.

Congratulations! Now you can get the gold, which is stored in 122 compartments, each for a different account holder.  On each compartment, there are two combination locks, a padlock, and an auditor seal. In order to unlock this compartment, you need three people, two from the New York Federal Gold Staff and one from the Internal Audit Staff; no individual knows all three combinations.

Well, you got the gold, each one of the 500,000+ bars weighing 27 pounds!  Now it’s time to escape, which won’t be that easy.  The only way out would be that same cylinder, which would likely be rotated, or through a bunch of New York City policemen, who would swarm you.
Oh, you’re thinking you can dig in?  Well, good luck with that.  The vault is enclosed in a steel and concrete frame, exactly like that cylinder, and security forces for the place are specifically looking for ground vibrations.  Not to mention this is happening in the middle of downtown Manhattan, where such an act would be a bit too noticeable.
Not a single (physical) break-in has even been attempted on this building, which just goes to show how secure the place is.  And the first will likely be simply an attempt.

Today “small town” in Newfoundland is… Salt Harbour. May 15, 2021 Struggling … how to break bad habits? “Nothing is impossible.  The word itself say, ‘I’m possible.’” –Audrey Hepburn There’s no one single reason why we struggle — to break bad habits, achieve our goals, or excel in our desired domain — but more often than not, the biggest challenge is sitting between your two ears. Yes, your mind is incredibly powerful, and quite frankly, it’s a double-edge sword.  The stories you tell yourself, the things you believe about yourself, and the way you talk to yourself can either be

Today! May 14, 2021 Good morning. One year ago, oil prices went negative as traders feared that the pandemic would lead to prolonged drops in oil use and got caught in trades they couldn’t get out of.  Today, oil and gasoline prices have held up well in inventory reports.  However, supply issues remain in the South and up and down the East Coast, even as Colonial pipeline paid a $5 million ransom to the hackers who shut down their system.  A number of states have declared emergencies as supplies have run low. It just goes to show that oil, one

Good morning. Meme stocks are back!  Well, sort of. A spike in companies like AMC Entertainment (AMC) and GameStop (GME) occurred yesterday.  GameStop was even halted multiple times on the way up (but not on the way down).  Oddly, this may be an early sign that markets are looking for a short-term bottom, given the sharp reversals higher. On CNBC, analyst Jim Cramer came out against the traders of meme stocks using sites like Reddit’s Wall Street Bets, to find the meme stock opportunities in the first place.  Tough words for someone whose television show features sound effects.  But for

Good morning. The good news?  Inflation has slightly slowed on a year-over-year basis, for the first time in seven months.  The bad news?  It’s still high at 8.3 percent.  And it came in higher than expectations. Looking at the data shows some reasons for the unexpected strength.  Most components of CPI still rose more than 6 percent in April.  But soaring food prices – which we’ve warned about fairly often — were a big contributor.  Another big move higher was record airfare prices, as high fuel costs and a reopened economy drove prices up. The data doesn’t give too much

Good morning. Typically, growth stocks lead the market.  That’s because these companies have the ability to scale up rapidly, and one of the best signs of a stock heading higher over the long haul is increased earnings. Yet every few years, value stocks have their time to shine.  A year ago, Warren Buffett’s performance as being derided.  Yet he’s buying stocks now.  In contrast, Ark Innovation, the hypergrowth fund managed by Cathie Wood, is now not just down relative to Buffett — but it’s underperforming the S&P 500 since its inception. Can these trends reverse in time?  Yes.  Will they

05-MAY 10-2022

Good morning. Any econ 101 student can tell you that there’s a lag effect between something like, say, the creation of trillions of dollars in spending, and inflation rates reflecting that.  We’re seeing that trend play out today, with the highest inflation levels in decades. The good news?  Some of that new money first went to financial markets, rather than in goods and services.  That helped keep many things affordable, especially during the initial lockdown phase of the pandemic.  But today, we’re seeing the impacts of those past lockdowns (and current ones).  And we’re seeing that handing out money directly

05-MAY 09-2022

Good morning. People don’t mind inflation when it hits things like assets.  When stocks and home prices are rising, consumers feel wealthier.  This “wealth effect” tends to be beneficial to spending, which then become a self-fulfilling prophecy. The 2009-2020 market rally started with this effect.  The bank bailouts propped up the banks, but didn’t cause inflation on Main Street.  Today, thanks to the stimulus measures during the pandemic, Main Street went on a spending binge.  That’s caused a reverse wealth effect as the prices of goods like food and utilities are rising at a rapid rate — but now asset
