5 Steps to Becoming More Confident

Confidence.  It’s a powerful word derived from the Latin word “confidere,” which means “to trust.”  To feel self-confident is basically trusting yourself.  Can you remember a time in your life when you felt the power of confidence?  A time when you felt unstoppable … on top of the world?

Now, imagine you could feel that powerful feeling more often.  What impact would that have on your career?  Your relationships?  Your choices?  Being confident helps you trust yourself.  It gives you the courage to seize opportunities, take more chances, and reach the next level in your life.

But how do you find the confidence that you’ve been lacking?  How do you move beyond the feelings of self-doubt and insecurity that are holding you back?  The answer lies in understanding your mind.

Your mind’s primary focus is survival.  While it helps keep you safe, it can also prevent you from asking for that promotion, approaching an attractive person, or starting your own business.  But there’s a way to train your mind … and it begins with trust.

This video shares Harv’s top 5 tips for developing confidence so you can go for any goal in life & succeed!

You’ve watched the video, so you can begin using these tips to become more confident in your own life:

1.  Get Experience

There’s truth in the olcl saying, “experience is the best teacher.”  In order to trust yourself and your abilities, you have to have a track record of success.  While trust isn’t built overnight, it is honed by taking small steps and focusing on the small victories.  Eventually, those small wins add up!

2.  Keep Learning

Nobody ever does anything well the first time they try.  At least not without having a little bit of help.  To be confident, you have to know what you know!  Ask a mentor, read and research, and do whatever is necessary to get the information you need.  At the end of the day, knowledge always conquers fear!

3.  Gain Momentum

I have a saying, “One step in the right direction is worth 100 years of thinking bout it.”  You can think about being successful your entire life, but until you take the first step, you will never get there.  Start small, but move forward.  Your movement creates momentum, and that is how you become more confident!

4.  Trust Yourself

Your mind has a voice, and sometimes, that voice is negative.  You think, “what if I fail?” or “what if this doesn’t work?”  This type of mental chatter paralyzes you and keeps you stuck in your comfort zone.
While most people beat themselves up for these feelings, that’s the opposite of what you should do to settle these feelings.  What’s more effective is to treat your mind with respect and make it feel good about what you are doing.
One of my favorite techniques is simply saying these four magic words: “Thank you for sharing”, and then act anyway.

5.  Know That You Can Handle What Happens

Sometimes, things just don’t work out the way we plan.  And if we really want it to work we’re left feeling unhappy, embarrassed, and stuck.
But by understanding that the result is not always something you can control, you can let go of those feelings quickly and not let them bother you so much.
Trust that you are on the path that is right for you.  Don’t focus on the result, focus on the process and watch as your confidence continues to grow.  You have the power to create the life you want to live.  So don’t let anything bring you down.

Final Thoughts…

To become confident and not let fear get in the way of what you want, first understand how your mind works … and then master it.  Figuring this out — and helping others understand it — has been the great work of my life.

If you’d like to dive deeper into discovering how to take control of your fear-based mind, push past any limiting beliefs holding you back, and become unstoppable, I’ve got something you’re going to love.

I reveal important mindset principles that have fueled my own journey to wealth and success in my signature web class:

How To Win The Day With every sunrise comes opportunity.  Each day is a figurative clean slate — another chance at getting it right and moving the ball closer to the goal line.  Regardless of what happened yesterday, we have the chance to start anew each morning. And the morning sets the tone for the entire day.  You own the morning, you win the day.  The happiest, healthiest, and most successful people know this.  They embrace it, and they use it to their advantage.  They build morning rituals to establish the foundation for the day. Here are 6 things they

Good morning. The biggest bombshell from the latest Fed meeting was the acknowledgement that inflation was coming in far higher than expected.  While the Fed continues its policy of trying to talk the market into always going up, some see a tapering of its asset purchases sooner rather than later. While that doesn’t mean higher interest rates right away, what it does mean is a big slowdown in money creation and addition to the central bank’s balance sheet.  That’s likely why both bond yields and gold prices have been dropping.  While tapering might spook the market, the prospect of lower

Good morning. Yesterday’s Federal Reserve meeting minutes kept interest rates at 0 percent, as expected.  And the Fed isn’t ready to taper its asset purchases (money printing) anytime soon.  But in trying to please everyone, the central bank sometimes ends up pleasing no one. The central bank made a big revision in its inflation estimates, from 2.4 percent to 3.4 percent.  While calling higher inflation “transitory,” the market isn’t so sure.  And, after the March meeting indicated no potential for an interest rate hike until 2024, there’s now an increasing possibility of a rate hike in 2023. The only real

Good morning. Michael Burry is a fund manager best known for going against the housing market in the runup to the meltdown.  Today, Burry sees inflation as the biggest threat to the economy.  And with prior stimulus measures boosting the price of everything from stocks to housing, the biggest threat is a nudge into hyperinflation.  Burry sees that happening this year.  Burry also sees the stock market as not only the greatest market bubble of all time, but the biggest by at least “two orders of magnitude.”  As investors adjust their return expectations for inflation, that bubble may burst. Time

Good morning. Most financial news is predicated around the idea that markets are either going up or down.  But sometimes, like now, indices are largely trading sideways.  When that happens, traders will start to look for clues as to what happens when the sideways trend ends. For most market conditions, a sideways trend can last anywhere from 6-12 months in part of a broader bull market.  That looks like the case here, given that most indices are still near all-time highs.  But it’s a time to find companies that have been hit the hardest and look set for the biggest

Good morning. There’s an old Wall Street saying that the cure for high prices is… high prices.  That’s because when prices are high, competition comes into play and customers seek substitutes.  Recent inflation data showing a jump in home and car prices (both new and used), is also leading to potential buyers to hold off on making a purchase. That could reduce demand enough to keep prices from heading higher in those areas.  A slowdown in governmental assistance to the economy in the form of stimulus checks and high spending may also help nip this rising inflation in the bud.
